How dignity, access, and compassion make a difference in a student’s day.
A student recently approached a trusted staff member after overhearing peers make comments about a smell. Concerned and embarrassed, the student quietly asked for clean underwear, clothing, and deodorant. Thanks to the immediate access provided by Mrs. Fields Closet, the student was able to freshen up and return to class feeling clean, confident, and ready to learn. Without this support, the student shared they likely would have asked to go home early.
When students lack essentials, learning takes a back seat. Mrs. Fields Closet fills that gap—with dignity and care.
“As an educator, I frequently rely on the resources provided by Mrs. Fields Closet to support students in need. The time, effort, and care that go into making this available do not go unnoticed.
It truly provides that extra layer of support for students who may otherwise go without basic necessities. Without it, the void would be deeply felt in our school community.”
New items don’t just meet a need —they uplift, empower, and remind students that they matter.
“I’ve had the privilege of helping many students get the supplies they need, and the look on their faces is absolutely priceless—especially when the items are brand new, tags still on.
For some of these kids, it’s the first time they’ve ever received something new that’s just for them. Their gratitude is overwhelming. It’s a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can feel monumental to a child who’s never had that moment before.”
Small essentials can spark big joy —reminding students they are seen, valued, and cared for.
“Sometimes, it’s the smallest things that make the biggest impact. I handed a student a new chapstick—and her whole face lit up. You’d think she’d just won a prize.
Another student earlier this school year needed a pair of shoes. When she received them, she was overjoyed—beaming with pride like they were made of gold.
These moments are reminders that dignity doesn’t always come in big packages. Sometimes, it’s a fresh pair of shoes or a simple stick of chapstick that tells a child, you matter.”
